KATSURA STATED:

"Many of you may not have been aware of this, but I am an ACA (adult child of an alcoholic) w/o the addictions passed on to me either genetically or behaviorally. I am also a sociologist, as well. It is my firm conviction that "alcoholism" as a mental disorder should be updated in the DSM as a 'pseudo' mental health disorder.

There is no psychological OR sociological evidence that alcoholism is a 'mental health' disorder, although physiologically it is a "dis-ease." There are no particular mental health causes for alcoholism that have been isolated. In short, the only part of alcoholism that is a bona fide dis-ease is the physiological dependency and the rest of due to 'character flaws.'

Many of you have been misled into believing that folks with bona fide mental health disorders 'drink to medicate themselves.' This is patently untrue. Once in a while you'll see an individual with schizophrenia or psychosis, etc., who is also addicted to alcoholic beverages, as well. However, these are two separate issues, entirely.

In short, then, the so-called 'alcoholic personality disorder' is nothing more than a myth. The 'alcoholic personality' is simply a character flawed individual - a 'bad egg.' With this in mind, we need to begin to 'clean house' of such individuals who exhibit misconduct from the benches of our courts and from our law enforcement, as well as any other form of social authority from our communities across the nation.

I will also elaborate upon how this issue has been one of the primary culprits in the overall retrograding our our nation, as well."
